Southeast Governor’s Forum has resolved to interface with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to secure the release of the leader of the banned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
The forum chairman and Imo State governor, Hope Uzodimma, disclosed this at the end of their meeting held at Government House, Enugu.
Uzodimma also disclosed that they resolved to visit the President to discuss pressing issues concerning the country’s Southeast geopolitical zone.
He also hinted that the forum received a delegation of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former secretary-general of the Commonwealth, Emeka Anyaoku and Obi of Onitsha, Alfred Achebe.
“The forum deliberated on the review of the report of the Southeast security summit held in September 2023 and agreed to implement the aspect about the security and economic degradation of the region.
“They affirmed their desire to put actionable plans on the key issues agreed upon,” he stated.
The forum also announced that the burial committee of the late Ogbonnaya Onu, former minister of science and technology, will be headed by former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim, while former minister of transport Rotimi Amaechi will serve as secretary.
All the five state governors of the zone attended the meeting.
