The Southern Governors Forum (SGF) has expressed condolences to Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State over the passing of his mother, Hajiya Safara’u Umaru Barebari, who died on Sunday.
In a statement signed by the Forum’s chairman and Ogun State governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, the governors described her passing as a deeply heartbreaking loss, acknowledging her immense role in raising and nurturing her children, including the Katsina State governor.
“The death of one’s mother, no matter the age, is always painful. Her love, kindness, devotion, and wise counsel cannot be replaced,” the statement read.
The Forum highlighted Hajiya Safara’u’s lifelong service to her community and the people of Katsina State, noting that her contributions were a source of comfort to those mourning her loss.
It also emphasised the significance of her passing during the holy month of Ramadan, a period dedicated to prayer, supplication, and charity among Muslim faithful.
“No doubt, His Excellency, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, had looked forward to the continued enjoyment of a mother’s love and company after the Ramadan fast, but Almighty Allah decided to call her home at this time,” the statement added.
Describing Hajiya Safara’u as a pillar of support and a mother to all, the SGF praised her kindness and wisdom, which they said would be deeply missed.
The Forum further extended condolences to Governor Radda’s siblings, including the Village Head of Radda, Alhaji Kabir Umar Radda, and Hajiya Hauwa Umar Radda, as well as other members of the family.
“The Southern Governors Forum commiserates with His Excellency, the Government, and the people of Katsina State over the loss of this precious woman of faith and dignity. May Allah grant her Aljanat Firdaus,” Governor Abiodun added.
