Speaker: Arewa Women, 100% Focus Plead With Lawmakers To Back Party’s Choice

A sociopolitical group, Arewa Women for Tininbu and Shatima movement in collaboration with 100% Focus Movement has called on the elected members of the 10th National Assembly, party loyalists, and supporters to endorse and buy into the All Progressive Congress (APC) leadership direction for the party to move on without delay.

President of the movement, Saadatu Dogonbauchi, who made this call in a press conference on Monday, said that this will enable lawmakers to provide the much-needed quality policies and oversight function innovatively.

The group expressed their support and solidarity for the nomination of Hon. Dr. Abbas Tajudeen as the Hon. Speaker of the 10th National Assembly.

“As the President of Arewa Women Movement, I stand here to present our collective decision and resolution in favor of Hon. Tajudeen, an APC member representing Zaria Federal Constituency from the North West, based on merit.

“We believe that Tajudeen is the most suitable candidate for the position based on his profile and excellent track record. work experiences, academic qualifications, contributions at the National Assembly, bills presented and passed for implementation, support to the party, and loyalty to the leadership.

“We and other stakeholders, will continue to support this decision in the right direction to achieve our party’s agenda at all levels while showing our loyalty to our leaders in mobilizing the much-needed support round the clock to ensure effectiveness and efficiency in the discharge of their duties and responsibilities,” she said.

The group urged members of the elected 10th National Assembly, governors, senators, party officials and members, and other stakeholders to please support the emergence of Tajudeen from the North West as the speaker.

“Hon. Abbas is a team builder, and he will make a big difference in the discharge of his duties and responsibilities as the speaker. We appeal to everyone to lend their support for the emergence of Hon. Tajudeen from the North West as the preferable choice for the 10th National Assembly in the interest of moving legislative activities forward,” she said.

Also, the chairman of 100% Focus Movement on Nigeria, Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim, said as a speaker, Abass would not allow interference from the federal government.

“Abbass will work in the interest of Nigerians irrespective of religious, political, or ethnic affiliations. He will ensure that the right bills that would affect the lives of Nigerians positively would be passed into law and the dividends of democracy delivered to the people,” he said.
