A new pan-African digital payment platform, SpendEase, has launched operations in Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa and Kenya, providing seamless cross-border payment solutions for individuals and businesses across the continent.
The platform is designed to eliminate currency barriers and high transaction costs that have long challenged cross-border financial transactions in Africa.
SpendEase became publicly available after several months of beta testing and can now be downloaded on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, the company announced.
In a statement issued to journalists yesterday in Abuja, the founder, Cindy Ihua-Maduenyi, said the platform was created to serve travellers, freelancers, remote workers and business owners by enabling them to send, spend and receive money across supported African countries using their local currencies.
She explained that SpendEase allows users to transact without excessive exchange rates or delayed settlement times.
According to Ihua-Maduenyi, the platform reflects the financial realities of everyday African living by offering fast, affordable and transparent cross-border transactions.
“With SpendEase, users can finally transact across Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa and Kenya without worrying about unfavourable transaction rates or slow settlement times,” she said.
She noted that the company’s mission is to make cross-border payments easy, affordable and accessible to everyone across the continent.
The founder disclosed that key features currently available on the app include instant remittances to and from supported African countries, competitive real-time currency exchange with full transparency, seamless cross-border payments, and a 24/7 AI-integrated in-app customer support service.
She also revealed plans to introduce virtual cards and crypto-to-fiat services in future updates.
Founded by a pan-African team, Ihua-Maduenyi said SpendEase was developed to help Africans remain financially connected across borders, whether for personal or business transactions.
She described the platform as a major step toward simplifying intra-African financial transactions.
“SpendEase was built as a practical solution for Africans who move, work, trade and do business across borders. Our goal is to remove friction and empower users with financial freedom across the continent,” she said.
