Spotify Announces 100 Greatest Pop Songs Of Streaming Era

Leading digital audio streaming service, Spotify, has released the 100 greatest pop songs on Thursday in a new ranked playlist.

The music streaming company describes its “streaming era” as starting from January 1, 2015, to the present (Feb. 16, 2026).

Olivia Rodrigo’s 2021 release “drivers license,” from her album, “SOUR” moved up to the No. 1 spot, followed by Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club,” Taylor Swift’s “Cruel Summer,” Dua Lipa’s “Don’t Start Now” and Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Run Away with Me,” to complement the top five.

On Spotify’s 100 greatest, pop star, Taylor Swift is the most listed with

six singles: “Cruel Summer” at No. 3, “Delicate” at No. 15, “All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault)” at No. 49, “Lover” at No. 57, “august” at No. 68 and “Midnight Rain” at No. 75.

Spotify has disclosed that the songs making Spotify’s 100 Greatest Pop Songs list were selected by the music streaming company’s  Global Hits Editorial Lead Cecilia Winter, Pop Editorial Lead Talia Kraines, Head of Global Music Curation & Discovery JJ Italiano and Urban Music Creative Director Carl Chery.

The press statement released announced that, “The editors “selected these tracks from a pool of thousands, guided by qualitative criteria including cultural impact, musicality, artist storytelling and more.”

Though high stream counts were not needed to make the list, several of the selected singles attracted a mass appeal.

“Pop music has been an omnipresent force for decades, but streaming allowed it to flourish as a space for artistic expression rather than solely commercial success,” the press statement said.

The 100 Greatest Pop Songs of the Streaming Era can be found on the Spotify website and mobile app.
