The current global economic downturn coupled with conflicts in different parts of that world has resulted in challenges in global supply chains with attendant cost of living crisis and increasing and unstable cost of doing business.

All these have led to very significant challenges in the cargo delivery sector. For the haulage and logistics industry, there is a need for stakeholders to engage. More than ever before, there is need to manage the Employer/Contractor relationship in this difficult operating environment for sustainable and continued partnership.

This will be the major focus in the Haulage and Logistics Magazine Annual Conference and Exhibition (HAULMACE) scheduled to hold on December 6, 2023, with the theme ‘Managing the Haulage Employer/Contractor Relationship in a Difficult Operating Environment’.

The convener of HAULMACE, Mr. Alfred Okugbeni explained that the theme of this year’s conference was arrived at after several engagements with the Advisory Council of the Magazine, who are major operators in the industry.

He stated the reasoning is that in a difficult and unstable operating environment like this, it is expedient that the relationship between the haulage contractor and employer is well managed for stability and growth.
