It, therefore, urged the federal government to initiate sustainable policies with equal measures of courage to ameliorate the sufferings of the people.

The Conference particularly observed that in spite of the constitutional provisions that grant Financial Autonomy to the State Legislatures, the implementation has been observed in breach across the Federation.

On the security concerns, the communique urged the President to make a concerted effort to address the challenge, saying, “It is paramount to bolster collaborative efforts among security agencies, enhance intelligence gathering mechanisms, and engage in community-oriented policing strategies.”

The Speakers also called on all the relevant stakeholders to comply with all the provisions in the Constitution in all situations and not selectively in breach.

The Conference also appealed to the relevant political leaders in Rivers State to explore peaceful means to resolve the near impasse situation between the Legislative and Executive Arms of government of the state.
