As the country continues to confront challenges of insecurity, the immediate past vice-chairman of Igando Ikotun local council development area (LCDA), Mrs Mojisola Badmus, has advised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to establish state police and promote community policing to address the nation’s security challenges.

She gave the piece of advice while empowering the underprivileged in her constituency.

Badmus said, “Our president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has done so well in the past two years of his administration; he should consider setting up state police and community policing in the country amid the amount of security challenges affecting the country.

Badmus, who gave so many empowerment items to the less privileged people, with different disabilities running into millions of Naira, thinks that the government should be more concerned with the plight of people living with disabilities.

She also advised more spirited members of the public to come up with such initiatives, saying,” I will recommend that NGOs should come up with laudable programmes that can curb restiveness at the state and community level.

According to her, different states in the country need to curb restiveness in their domains by engaging the less privileged people in society with various items, thereby helping the federal government to mitigate restiveness in society.

“We should give people a sense of belonging. That is the responsibility of the government. The government should intervene by collaborating with local governments. The community should be made to be a better place for people to live by engaging individuals in different vocations through the states or local governments.’’

Badmus further urged the government to come up with programmes that can make life more meaningful for the people at the community level, saying, “They should be apportioned quotas in the economy and political system in the country.

“A proportion of our Federal and state allocation should be allocated to the disabled. The campaign has begun, and a special bus for people with disabilities is available.

“They should be encouraged to vote in our democratic process. Let us re-elect our leader, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in 2027. There is hope for people with disabilities in the community. People with disabilities can become leaders tomorrow.

One of the beneficiaries of the empowerment programme, Akinbode Busayo, a town planner, thanked their benefactor, saying the programme is commendable.
