State Visit: First Lady Unveils Governor AbdulRazaq’s Signature Projects As Emir Prays For President, Wife, AbdulRazaq

Excitement rented the air on Tuesday in Ilorin as Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu began a three-day visit to Kwara State.

Accompanied by Vice President’s wife, Nana Shettima and many others, the First Lady was welcomed by the creme de la creme in the state and beyond, led by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and his wife, Amb.

Olufolake Abdulrazaq; Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma; First Ladies from across the country; federal and state parliamentarians; cabinet members; and party elders.

Between Tuesday, January 28 and Wednesday, January 29 , 2025, the First Lady commissioned some signature projects of the administration of the Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
On the first day of her visit, Mrs Tinubu inaugurated the ICT Community Centre built by the NITDA in collaboration with her foundation – Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) at the newly established Kwara State University of Education, Ilorin.

She later inaugurated an ultra modern Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Dr Amuda Aluko Ward at the Kwara State University Teaching Hospital (KWASUTH) in Ilorin.

The wife of the vice president, Nana Shettima represented the First Lady at the distribution of food support for the vulnerable under the Renewed Hope Initiative and ASR Initiative — an action the governor commended as a huge intervention for which he expressed gratitude to the First Lady.

Also on Tuesday, the First Lady paid a homage to the palace of the Emir of Ilorin and chairman, Kwara State Traditional Council, Alh Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari who prayed for the President Tinubu, the First Lady, and Governor AbdulRazaq whom he called a great supporter of the President and a fine achiever across all sectors.

Senator Tinubu thanked the Emir for his support for the president over the years and his support for the governor.

And on Wednesday, the First Lady commissioned the Emir Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari Flyover, Gen. Tunde Idiagbon Flyover, and performed the groundbreaking of the Oluremi Tinubu Hospital( formerly Civil Service Clinic).

At another event in the day, the first lady presented 10,000 professional kits to midwives in North Central zone, comprising of Kwara, Kogi, Niger, Benue and Nasarawa states, and the Federal Capital Territory.
Senator Tinubu later visited the Innovation Hub, a facility that is designed to be Kwara’s version of the Silicon Valley to raise generations of techies and build skills that resolve local developmental challenges.
She also visited the Sugar Factory Film Studio, another legacy project of the AbdulRazaq administration, wrapping up the day’s activities.

The first lady will today (Thursday) launch the free to shine and triple elimination campaigns of HIV, Hepatitis and Syphilis in Ilorin.

She’s also billed to undertake a tour of a few other iconic projects of Governor AbdulRazaq such as the Visual Arts Centre and the Garment Factory — all reputed to be the best of their kinds in the country before she leaves Ilorin.
