A veteran media consultant and public analyst, Dr. Abdulrahman Sade, has called on advocacy groups across the country to stop calling on President Bola Tinubu to appoint the Chief Health, Safety and Environment Officer NNPCL Dr. Bala Wunti to succeed Mele Kyari, the group chief executive officer of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Limited), Mele Kolo Kyari.

In a press release yesterday, Dr. Sade said that the president has the power to make his decisions at the right time as head of Nigeria’s apex oil firm. He said that groups need to allow the sector’s leaders to work diligently for the growth and development of the sector and the nation.

Sade, said Bala Wunti has been given a vital national assignment at HSE “Whatever assignment somebody like Wunti is given, no matter what organisation it is, he applies all of his efforts, since it is all about serving the nation and its people. This has been his watchword at Health, Safety and Environment and even at his previous positions like NAPIMS, and he will also not desist from doing the same in the future.”

Dr. Abdulrahman further said Wunti is a serious-minded and selfless son of Bauchi State; hence, they would not allow his being portrayed as a greedy fellow, “Therefore, we should allow him to focus on his job.”

Sade added that Wunti is in a cordial relationship with Mele Kyari, and they have been working cordially for years for the growth of the nation, contrary to the picture the advocacy groups have been painting.

“Both Kyari and Wunti have Nigeria’s growth at heart. No one is spoiling anyone’s job.
Therefore, the right groups should stop overheating the polity or causing confusion. The team of Mele Kyari and Bala Wunti has taken the country to an unprecedented height and development through their rigorous and unalloyed efforts in the transformation of the NNPCL.”
