The monarch told the AIG to stop his officers from the wrongful practice of coming down from Force Headquarters, Abuja to local communities to arrest persons over issues bothering on land matters on the pretence that “it is an order from the above”.

The Asagba stated this when he played host to the IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, on a courtesy visit shortly before the commencement of the PPROs/Police Communication Experts’ Conference, which kicked off in Asaba, Delta State on Monday.

“Nigeria Police Force chain of command should be followed.

After all, such interventions from Abuja made no difference,” the Asagba advised.

Earlier, the IGP, Kayode Egbetokun had congratulated the monarch over his emergence as the Asagba of Asaba and his successful coronation, praying that his time would be successful.

He said he was in Asaba for the PPROs/Police Communication Experts’ Conference and that his coming would not be complete without a visit to the monarch.

Egbetokun also solicited partnership from the monarch to the security agencies especially police force, promising that the federal government is aware of some security challenges in the nation and that it is doing everything possible to reduce it drastically.

The lGP later received the 31 operational vehicles donated by the state government to the police and other security agencies in the state to strengthen their operations.

Declaring the conference open, the lGP said the Nigeria Police Force was committed to promoting amicable settlements, upholding fairness, and ensuring accountability.

The IGP urged Nigerians to refrain from using social media to report the conduct of police officers instead of directing such complaints to the Police Complaints Response Unit, saying that the use of social media to address grievances often leads to misinformation.
