Stop Unnecessary Trips To Cut Costs – Bauchi Gov Cautions Officials

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has cautioned state officials against unnecessary trips, particularly to Abuja, urging them to curb such movements to reduce the cost of governance.

The governor who spoke yesterday while opening a routine State Executive Council (SEC) meeting in Bauchi, said that the state government has so many issues that need to be tackled.

He said, “We have to minimise the cost of governance, traveling to Abuja, unless it is necessary. We cannot afford it because we have not met our revenue generation projections; going to Abuja to do one or two things should be stopped except it is necessary.

“We are almost doing the media reviews, and I don’t think our performance is good. I noted yesterday at the economic management meeting that our performance is very poor because, what we put forward to do within the fiscal year, we have not been able to achieve and I don’t think we are lacking in anyway in doing that.”

The governor also announced the postponement of the State Investment Submit from this month to October because of some hitches.

“Our own investment submit has a hiccup because we have to listen to the international community; those that we are inviting.

“We are oblivious of the fact that July is the midyear period, most members of the diplomatic community and corporate bodies would be going off for midyear holiday and we wouldn’t want our occasion to be partially attended.”

He explained that the government is shifting the submit to October on the advice of experts, and asked the media to widely circulate the postponement for the knowledge of invitees.
