Sujimoto Construction Limited has responded to allegations surrounding a disputed ₦24 million debt and an ex parte court order seeking to place the firm under administration.
The company maintained that the claims remained contested and are currently undergoing judicial review.
Sujimoto disclosed that it has adhered to all legal processes and submitted a bank draft covering the disputed sum under protest, pending the final outcome of the case. The firm stressed that this action does not amount to an admission of liability.
It further explained that, following legal applications filed by its counsel, the authority of the administrator appointed through the ex parte order has been temporarily halted until the court reaches a decision.
In its statement, the company noted that the ex parte order was granted on November 14, 2025, based on representations relating to its financial position, which it insists do not accurately portray its operational realities.
To counter the claims, Sujimoto told the court it has presented documentation showing its sustained financial strength and business viability, including billions of naira disbursed to creditors within the past year.
According to the company, it has settled over ₦10 billion in obligations to banks, private investors, and government institutions within the last 12 months. This includes a voluntary repayment of ₦1.28 billion to the Enugu State Government concerning a contract currently under dispute.
The firm also stated that its asset base exceeds ₦90 billion, with liabilities accounting for less than 10 per cent of total assets. It added that its financial credibility is supported by a Triple BBB+ Investment Grade rating for 2024–2025 issued by DataPro.
Sujimoto reaffirmed its dedication to transparency and responsible corporate conduct, noting that it has consistently met its financial commitments through lawful channels.
The company also highlighted its workforce strength, stating that it has employed over 745 professionals and paid out more than ₦7 billion in wages over the last twelve years, benefiting numerous Nigerian families.
“Sujimoto remains committed to integrity, accountability, and excellence. The company will continue to operate transparently and ensure that all obligations are met in accordance with the law. Our focus remains on delivering world-class projects and sustaining the livelihoods of our employees and partners,” said the Group Managing Director of Sujimoto Holdings, Dr. Sijibomi Ogundele.
Established twelve years ago, Sujimoto has executed several landmark real estate developments across Nigeria, including Giuliano, LucreziaBySujimoto in Banana Island, the Sujimoto Twin Towers, Queen Amina by Sujimoto, and LeonardoBySujimoto, among others.
The company also oversees Sujimoto Farm, a multi-functional estate that combines residential housing, healthcare facilities, hospitality services, and commercial markets.
Sujimoto Construction Limited reiterated its resolve to defend its business operations and reputation through lawful means while maintaining its focus on project delivery, workforce welfare, and high-quality real estate development nationwide.
