Participants at the ongoing Abia-Türkiye Investment Summit/Product Exhibition 2025 in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, have acknowledged the investment potentials of the state.
The participants include, Mrs Christie Afolahan of MarinBio, Ms Sultan Tosyali of Buser Project/ Furniture Company, and Mr. Ulas Aslam of AK-AY Elektrik, among others.
Speaking with LEADERSHIP Weekend on the sidelines of the summit, they expressed satisfaction with the state’s industrial base, agricultural potentials, and ongoing power-sector reforms.
Afolahan explained that her firm’s flagship product, Farmita, enhances soil structure and helps address erosion challenges common in the South-East.
The emerging market analysts said the firm also offers probiotics for cattle, poultry and fish, with successful trials recorded in Kenya, Uganda and Zambia.
The analyst added that the firm was ready to partner the farmer’s clusters and livestock groups to boost productivity
Similarly, Tosyali, explained that the state’s creative workforce and natural fibres support farm-to-fabric industrial development.
The company’s business development manager said, “Sourcing textiles and leather locally would strengthen the state’s manufacturing base.”
She also noted that improved processing capacity and upgraded skills were essential to position the state as a national textile hub.
In his remarks, Aslam, the project director of AK-AY Elektrik, said that country’s power sector faces transmission constraints, distribution losses and gas supply challenges.
He lauded the state for taking major steps in establishing its electricity market and deploying 53 transformers to various communities to improve supply reliability.
Aslam, who informed that the firm is at present rehabilitating transmission substations in the capital, Aba, and Alaoji to expand capacity, assured of quality job.
He emphasised the need for the establishment of reliable electricity, adding that it would accelerate industrial growth in Aba and other economic corridors.
