Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad Ladies have confirmed that Nigerian international, Ashleigh Plumptre, has successfully undergone surgery on a foot injury. Plumptre is expected to be sidelined for several months as she recovers.
This marks the second time the former Leicester City player has faced an injury layoff since joining Al Ittihad.
The 31-year-old sustained a serious injury in March 2024 while playing for the club, shortly after an impressive start to her debut season where she netted eight goals in 12 appearances. The previous injury kept the versatile defender out of action for approximately six months.
Plumptre also missed the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris due to fitness concerns. She will now be aiming to regain full fitness in time for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled for July.
