Facts You Didn’t Know About Gambling
Share on WhatsAppShare on FacebookShare on XTelegram

Gambling is one of the favoured past times of millions around the globe. It’s an activity that can be enjoyed in multiple ways, which is probably why it’s so popular. But there are some facts you may or may not have heard about gambling before, which makes it even more of an interesting form of entertainment.

The Biggest Win Ever Was Over $35 Million

When anyone gambles, the dream is to win big. And, doing so nowadays, punters are spoilt for choice because of all the latest online slots. But the biggest jackpot haul on record was won offline, believe it or not. A person, who chose to remain anonymous, walked into the Excalibur Casino in Las Vegas and spent $100 playing the renowned Megabucks slot machine. And Lady Luck must have been with them that day because they saw their $100 wager turn into a huge $39.7 million win. It’s proof that you can really win life-changing amounts while gambling.

Online Casino Gambling Isn’t Yet Thirty Years Old

It seems like online casinos have been around forever, right? They’re the most popular place to enjoy games such as video slots and table games like roulette and blackjack, but the industry is still, when compared to the gambling sector as a whole, still in its infancy. The first online casino threw open its virtual doors in 1996, with InterCasino being the first to offer real money casino gaming to punters. The following year, there were over two hundred online casinos, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Las Vegas Is No Longer The Gambling Mecca

For years, many people have looked at Las Vegas as the gambling mecca and the home of casino gaming. And who can blame them when there are a whole host of casino venues and resorts in Sin City? But, in terms of revenue, Macau trumps Las Vegas, and by some way too. At present, reports suggest that casinos in Macau, the only place in China where they are allowed, rake in revenue of close to $30 million. And, in comparison to the money made in Vegas, that’s about seven times more. Other casino hotspots include London, Monaco, Paris and Atlantic City.

The Average Age Of Gamblers Is Reducing

While gambling is undoubtedly an activity for everyone who is legally old enough to get involved, it’s always been seen as a pastime that older people are into, with the younger generation preferring to play video games and the like. However, with content now available on mobile and with the adoption of the latest technology, younger people are now getting involved, and it’s showing in terms of the average age of gamblers. The average age of gamblers has reduced from 49.5 in 2019 to 43.5 last year (2021). It’s a trend that is likely to continue, too, as the content appeals significantly more to millennials. And so do the platforms hosting them.
