Suspects Charged Over Shooting At Kansas City Super Bowl Parade

Two teenagers suspected to be responsible for the shooting that killed one person and injured others during Super Bowl victory parade in Kansas City have been charged.

A court statement on Friday said the two suspects, both aged under 18, were in custody over gun and resisting arrest charges.

Police earlier said p the shooting incident was not connected to terrorism but was triggered by an argument. One other person who was detained after the shooting has regained his freedom.

 

A statement from the Jackson County Family Court on Friday said that additional charges were “expected in the future as the investigation by the Kansas City Police Department continues.”

Kansas City Police have appealed for information about the shooting, which occurred near the city’s Union Station just after a parade and rally for the Super Bowl champions.

 

The dead victim was known as Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a 43-year-old local DJ. She had hosted Taste of Tejano, a Tex-Mex music show, on community radio station KKFI.

On Thursday, Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves said the injured victims are within the age bracket of between eight to 47 years old, adding that at least half were under 16.
