Iga Swiatek showcased her resilience by overcoming a shaky start to win the Korea Open title on Sunday, defeating Russian Ekaterina Alexandrova 1-6, 7-6(3), 7-5.
The world number two struggled in the opening set, committing numerous double faults, but rebounded to secure victory after more than two and a half hours of play. This triumph marks Swiatek’s third title of the year, adding to her victories at Wimbledon and the Cincinnati Open.
Alexandrova capitalised on Swiatek’s early difficulties, breaking serve three times in the first set. However, Swiatek fought back, taking the second set to a tiebreaker and ultimately securing the win in a tightly contested third set.
