Former Bayelsa State governor Senator Seriake Dickson has said lack of accountability with sheer impunity has led to many social vices inNigeria.
According to him, lack of transparency, inefficiency and wanton systematic corruption have eaten deep into all the fabrics of the Nigerian state.
Dickson stated this while speaking on the topic: “The Impact of Governance Policies on Economic Development in Nigeria: Challenges and Sustainability” during the 11th convocation lecture for courses 29 and 30 graduands of the Nigerian Collage of Accountancy, Kwall near Jos.
Dickson who was represented by Prof Sunday Mlanga, the director, Academics at ANAN University, said this irresponsibility on the part of leaders had led to many social unrests and constant calls for restructuring and total overhaul of the entire architecture of the Nigerian governing system.
He identified political rascality, ethnicity, lack of needs assessments, corruption, religion and too many points of agenda as factors militating against effective policy making and implementation in Nigeria.
Earlier, the director general of the Nigeria College of Accountancy, Dr. Friday Akpan, during his pre convocation press briefing said the collage was set to graduate over 5,600 students during its 11th convocation ceremony to be held today.
Our correspondent reports that the college since its inception had graduated over 60,000 students.
