Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has declared that his fight against insecurity is driven by divine responsibility and not political ambition.

The Governor made the remarks while flagging off a statewide Coordinated Prayers Initiative at the Government House, Katsina.

The event brought together Ulamas, Jumaat Imams, traditional rulers, and representatives of faith-based organizations to seek divine intervention and strengthen unity in tackling security challenges.

Governor Radda offered prayers for victims of insecurity and emphasized the need for patience, wisdom, and collective resolve.

“Bandits do not ask whether you belong to AC, APC, PDP, or any other group. This is why we must come together as one united people. Violence cannot solve what dialogue, understanding, and cooperation should address,” he said.

The Governor outlined ongoing security measures, including the recruitment and equipping of youths from frontline communities, commissioning of eight armoured vehicles, and procurement of 700 motorcycles to support security agencies in difficult terrains.

He also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to humanitarian relief for victims of kidnapping and insecurity.

“By God, I am not addressing insecurity because I expect re-election. No. I am doing it because of the responsibility Allah has placed on me to protect lives and property,” Governor Radda stressed.

Deputy Governor Faruk Lawal Jobe in his goodwill message highlighted the administration’s agricultural revival and humanitarian efforts, including the distribution of fertilizers worth over ₦21 billion across 6,062 polling units last year, as well as food support during Ramadan and upcoming subsidized food sales.

Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Nasir Sani Zangon Daura, urged stakeholders to combine prayer with action through honesty, compassion, zakat, and fear of God, praising Governor Radda’s dedication to restoring peace.

Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Alhaji Isiyaku Dabai, explained that the coordinated prayer initiative was designed to seek Allah’s mercy for Katsina’s security challenges.

The event concluded with renewed prayers and commitments from religious leaders, traditional rulers, and government officials to strengthen cooperation, truth, and unity in the pursuit of peace.

The gathering was attended by high-level dignitaries, including the Secretary to the Government of Katsina State, Barr. Abdullahi Garba Faskari, representatives of the Katsina and Daura Emirate Councils, district heads, and leading Ulamas from across the state.
