The Taraba State Emergency Management Agency (TSEMA) has proposed N1. Ibn to tackle possible disaster and emergency situations in 2026.
The executive secretary of the agency, Dr. Echuseh Audu, stated this during the agency’s budget defence at the assembly complex in Jalingo on Friday.
Dr. Audu, who was in company of her management team, said out of the total sum, the agency would spend N678m on capital expenditure while appropriating N200.3m for overhead costs.
According to her, 60 percent of the fund will go to critical areas such as relief materials, life jackets, tents for IDPs among others, while 40% is allocated for staff allowances, trainings, utilities and vehicle maintenance while three hundred million is approximately reserved for welfare packages and unforeseen emergencies that might possibly arise.
She prayed that should the agency secure the approval for 2026, it would in no small measure enable SEMA strengthen response capacity, protect vulnerable communities and ensure readiness for future emergencies.
