The Papyrus Global has announced that the vice-chancellor of Taraba State University, Prof. Sunday Paul Bako, will serve as a distinguished panellist at the 8th Papyrus Global Local Government Chairmen/Mayors Conference and Awards (PAGMACA) 2026.

The conference, scheduled for 29th April to 1st May 2026, in Abuja, is expected to bring together mayors, local government chairpersons, policymakers, development partners, and thought leaders from over 20 countries across Africa.

In a statement issued by the managing director of Papyrus Global, Hon. Chief Mrs Doofan Damsa-Justin,  Bako’s participation was described as a significant addition to the conference’s lineup of speakers.

She noted that the Vice-Chancellor would contribute to a high-level panel discussion, drawing on his extensive academic and administrative experience to address critical issues in governance, development, and institutional growth. According to her, his participation underscores the vital role of academia in shaping policy, driving innovation, and supporting sustainable development at both local and national levels.

The organisers expressed appreciation for his acceptance, describing him as a respected academic leader whose insights will enrich conversations around the intersection of education, LEADERSHIP, and community development. They added that his perspective would also highlight the role of higher institutions in tackling socio-economic challenges.

“We are truly honoured and delighted to have Professor Sunday Paul Bako join us as a panellist at PAGMACA 2026. His depth of knowledge and LEADERSHIP experience will significantly enrich discussions at the conference. The role of academia in national development cannot be overstated, and its contributions will help shape practical solutions for local governance and sustainable growth,” the statement read.

His participation is expected to strengthen further the conference’s objective of equipping sub-national leaders with the knowledge and tools needed to drive innovation, enhance institutional capacity, and promote inclusive development across communities.

PAGMACA 2026 is poised to be a landmark gathering, fostering strategic dialogue on governance, education, economic development, and sustainable partnerships, while also recognising excellence in local LEADERSHIP across Africa.
