Taskforce Arrests 52 Suspected Criminals In Lagos

A total of fifty-two suspected criminals were apprehended around the Lagos metropolis by the Lagos State Environmental and Special Offences Enforcement Unit in conjunction with the State Taskforce.

The routine enforcement and clean-up operation carried out in the early hours of Saturday, 26th April 2025 was to rid state of environmental infractions, and criminal elements as well as enhance public safety.

Director, Public Affairs of the Lagos State Taskforce, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem confirmed that the operation which was led by the Chairman of the Agency, CSP Adetayo Akerele targeted key areas including Lekki, Ikoyi, Falomo Bridge, Eko Hotel, and Ligali Ayorinde.

Abdulraheem said these areas had been flagged through numerous complaints and distress calls indicating the presence of street urchins, miscreants, hooligans, pickpockets, and other suspected criminals, especially during late hours.

“During the raid, a total of fifty-two (52) suspects comprising fifty-one (51) males and one (1) female were apprehended. The Agency successfully restored order and sanity to all locations visited,” Abdulraheem said.

Chairman of the taskforce, CSP Akerele warned criminal elements that the agency would not relent in ensuring environmental orderliness and security of lives and property across the State.

“We will continue to sustain these enforcement exercises until every part of the city is free from criminal activities.

“Those who choose to engage in acts that threaten the serenity and security of residents should desist immediately or face the full weight of the law,” Akerele warned.

He added all arrested suspects will be prosecuted in court accordingly.
