New details have emerged about the cost of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s lavish New York wedding, with New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani confirming that the couple paid more than $160,000 to cover the security permit for the high-profile celebration.
Speaking during a press conference on Friday, the mayor said the permit fee covered the city’s response to the event, including police overtime, traffic management and street closures around Madison Square Garden, where the wedding took place on July 3.
According to Mamdani, the permit was finalised just days before the ceremony and fully paid for by Swift.
The security arrangements reportedly remained in place from the couple’s rehearsal dinner on July 2 through to the wedding celebrations the following day, helping to manage the large crowds and heightened security surrounding the star-studded event.
While much of the ceremony was kept private, Swift’s representative previously revealed that the singer and Kelce wore custom Christian Dior Haute Couture designs. The couple also opted against having traditional bridesmaids and groomsmen, with Swift’s brother, Austin Swift, serving as her man of honour and Travis Kelce’s brother, Jason Kelce, acting as best man. Actor and comedian Adam Sandler officiated the ceremony.
The wedding has continued to dominate entertainment headlines, with fresh details emerging in the days after the couple’s highly anticipated nuptials.
