The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), has announced the successful return to service of the 330kV Shiroro–Mando Transmission Line 2, restoring power supply to Kaduna state and it’s environs.
TCN general manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, who made this known on Monday, it’s engineers energised the line at approximately 8:32 p.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2026, after concluding extensive technical interventions designed to guarantee the infrastructure’s integrity and operational reliability.
She emphasised that all works were carried out with strict adherence to the highest safety and quality standards.
“With Line 1 and Line 2 now fully operational, both circuits of the Shiroro–Mando 330kV transmission corridor are back in service. This restoration significantly reinforces bulk electricity transmission to Kaduna Electricity’s franchise area, improves network flexibility, and strengthens the overall reliability of our transmission system,” Mbah stated.
She highlighted the strategic value of the corridor, which links the Shiroro Hydroelectric Power Station in Niger State to the Mando substation near Kaduna, serving millions in north-central Nigeria amid ongoing grid challenges like vandalism and aging infrastructure.
“The return of both lines represents a significant milestone in TCN’s ongoing efforts to fortify the transmission backbone and deliver reliable electricity across our network,” she added.
Mbah expressed gratitude: “TCN sincerely appreciates the cooperation and understanding of our customers and stakeholders during the outage period. We reaffirm our unwavering commitment to building a resilient and efficient national grid that meets the growing energy demands of Nigerians.”
