Organisers of a technology competition, TechOff 2025, have announced that Maxwell Oba-Joshua emerged as the overall winner of the 2025 edition, which concluded yesterday.

In a statement, the organisers said the competition focused on identifying and supporting emerging innovators. The event brought together young developers, industry professionals, and mentors, with participants presenting technology-driven solutions to practical challenges.

“Oba-Joshua won the top prize with his project, ‘Message Queue,’ a tool designed to help users prioritise and manage information and tasks more efficiently. He said the platform aims to address inefficiencies associated with information overload.

“Happiness Obochi Adah placed second with ‘CortexDB,’ an artificial intelligence-powered solution that enables users to interact with and retrieve data from databases more effectively. The tool is intended to simplify data access and improve decision-making, particularly for non-technical users.

“Princess Enuma finished third with ‘Sorted Table,’ a database management solution developed to simplify data storage and organisation for students, small businesses and other users,” the statement read.

Speaking at the event, TechOff founder Sosanya Olumide Dickson said the initiative was established to provide opportunities for emerging technology talent who may lack visibility or access to industry networks.

Organisers said the 2025 edition builds on previous outings of the programme, which has attracted over 800 participants, engaged industry experts, and partnered with several organisations. More than N2 million in prizes and support have been distributed since the competition began.

Plans are underway for the 2026 edition, which organisers said would focus on expanding participation across more locations and encouraging broader involvement in technology development.
