A top Iranian official has warned that British lives are at risk after Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer granted the United States permission to launch strikes on Iranian missile sites targeting the Strait of Hormuz from UK bases.
UK ministers approved the move expanding previous permissions that had only allowed the US to target sites threatening British interests in the region. Shortly after the UK’s decision, Iran reportedly struck a joint US-UK military base with ballistic missiles.
The escalation comes amid ongoing conflict in the Middle East, which erupted three weeks ago following joint US-Israel airstrikes on several Iranian sites on February 28. Iran responded with missile attacks across the region, heightening tensions and raising concerns about civilian and military safety.
The warning from Tehran underscores the growing risk to UK personnel and assets in the region as international powers remain locked in a cycle of retaliation.
