The Papyrus Global Local Government/Mayors Award and Conference (PAGLOGMA) 2026 will hold from 26th to 28th March, 2026, at The Palms Hotel, Muhammadu Buhari Way in Abuja’s Central Business District.

The three-day continental event will bring together local government leaders, mayors, policymakers and development stakeholders from across Africa to celebrate excellence in grassroots governance and share best practices in local administration.

Hon. Doofan Damsa-Justin, the initiator of PAGLOGMA, said the event is designed to recognise and celebrate the custodians of local government who are building Africa one community at a time.

Her words, “PAGLOGMA is a platform for celebrating leadership at the grassroots level, where governance directly touches the people. This gathering will foster collaboration, learning and recognition for those driving development across Africa’s local governments.”

Participants are expected from multiple regions of the continent, including: West Africa – Liberia, Ghana, Gambia, Togo, Cape Verde, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Sierra Leone, and Nigeria.

From East Africa are Uganda, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania and Seychelles while Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique, Malawi, Mauritius, Madagascar, Angola and South Africa will represent the southern African region
