Tinubu Appoints Louis Odion As FCCPC Executive Commissioner

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Mr Louis Odion as Executive Commissioner (Operations) in the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC).

The appointment was contained in a letter dated August 12, 2025, signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, which was addressed to Odion at the Commission’s office in Asokoro, Abuja.

“I am pleased to inform you that His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, has approved your appointment as Executive Commissioner (Operations), Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), subject to confirmation by the Senate,” the letter stated.

According to the SGF, the appointment was in line with Sections 4 (2)(c) and 5 (1) of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission Act, 2018.

The letter further noted that Odion will immediately commence his duties in an acting capacity pending Senate confirmation.

“You are, however, to commence functioning in acting capacity until the condition precedent stated above is fulfilled,” the letter added.

The SGF concluded with a congratulatory note: “Please, accept my congratulations and best wishes on your appointment.”

Odion, an experienced and respected journalist, was commissioner for information Edo State, and lately, special assistant (technical) to President Muhammadu Buhari.
