President Bola Tinubu has approved the recruitment of 1,000 youths from Plateau State as forest guards as part of efforts to strengthen security across the state.
The development was disclosed on Tuesday by Vice President Kashim Shettima at an event to formally receive Plateau State governor, Caleb Mutfwang, into the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to Shettima, the initiative was designed to enhance security in rural areas, especially communities that have witnessed recurring violence linked to farmer–herder clashes.
“The president has given the go-ahead for 1,000 youths to be employed as forest guards across Plateau. The dividends of democracy will begin to be felt within the next three weeks,” he said.
The vice president also urged residents of the state to support the Federal Government’s security programmes, adding that additional development interventions would be rolled out to further improve the welfare of the people.
