President Bola Tinubu has commissioned the newly constructed 15-kilometre A2 Junction (Abuja-Lokoja Road) to Pai Town in Kwali area council, Abuja, emphasising his administration’s commitment to rural development, agricultural growth, and balanced infrastructure expansion across Nigeria.
Speaking at the event on Tuesday, President Tinubu praised the efforts of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and his team for their dedication to improving rural infrastructure.
“A leader like Barrister Nyesom Wike and his team are doing an excellent job, thinking about the people, their needs, and the country he represents. Thank you, Nyesom Wike, for all you are doing. We greatly appreciate the efforts you and your team have put in place to achieve this,” he said.
Reflecting on his journey to the event, the President highlighted the need for enhanced agricultural and livestock opportunities to uplift rural communities.
“On my way here, I observed the need for our great farmers and livestock owners to establish opportunities for grazing and do what is necessary. We will help you. We will work with you.
“We will combat what used to be a liability and a source of conflict, turning it into a means of prosperity,” he said.
Describing the newly commissioned road as both ‘symbolic and strategic,’ Tinubu noted its potential to boost agriculture, commerce, education, and mobility while strengthening Nigeria’s economy from the grassroots.
“Rural communities such as Pai make an essential contribution to Nigeria’s social and economic fabric, especially in food production and local enterprises.
“But their potential has been hindered by poor road access, isolation, and neglect for far too long. Today, that narrative is changing,” he said.
The President commended the contractors for delivering a durable project and urged the people of Pia Town to take ownership of the infrastructure.
“To the people of Pia, this is your road. I urge the community to take ownership of this infrastructure, guide it, maintain it, and use it to the fullest.
“Let it be a pathway to growth and a bridge to a better life for the youth, farmers, traders, and students,” he said.
While reiterating his administration’s resolve to ensure inclusive development, Tinubu promised more projects across Nigeria.
“We will continue until every Nigerian can feel the touch of meaningful governance,” he affirmed.
The President thanked traditional rulers, FCT officials, and residents for their support: “May the road bring prosperity, peace, power, and pride to Pia Town and beyond.”
