She disclosed this at the historic 1st Global Conference on Ending Violence Against Children in far away Bogota, Colombia.

The Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, led Nigeria’s delegation with 1,600 participants, including 143 ministers and 93 countries, with a commitment to driving transformative change towards Nigeria and the world free of violence against children.

In a statement on Tuesday by her personal Media Consultant, Jonathan Eze, the Minister emphasised Nigeria’s commitment and accountability to ending violence against children under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The minister outlined several steps and policies of the Nigerian government that are child —and women-oriented and committed to further advancing their interests.

She noted the opportunity and necessity to accelerate and deliver a transformative shift in child protection.

“The first-ever Global Ministerial Conference on Ending Violence Against Children represents a historic moment to re-imagine a world where all children are safe in their homes, schools, communities and online and make commitments commensurate with the global child protection challenge.

“The Nigerian government under President Bola Tinubu is determined to improve living conditions for children and has created viable means to secure and invest in children as national treasures and leaders of tomorrow.”

According to her, this landmark event serves as a critical platform to address the urgent steps needed to safeguard every child, calling on nations to unite to confront the profound challenges and responsibilities.

The conference provided a highest-profile platform for showcasing national progress, announcing new commitments and amplifying diverse voices. Participants convened and pledged to prioritise child protection themes.

Together, delegates at the ministerial conference underscored the immense stakes in creating a safer, saner, and more secure future for the next generation.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs, Ambassador Gabriel Aduda, and others are prominent among the attendees.
