Tinubu Has Done More For North Than Any Previous Leader — Uba Sani

Kaduna State governor, Uba Sani, has declared that President Bola Tinubu has delivered more development projects to northern Nigeria than any previous Nigerian leader, expressing confidence that the President will secure more votes across the region in the 2027 general election than he did in 2023 cycle.

The governor made the remarks during an interview on ARISE News Prime Time show on Tuesday night while responding to questions about the ruling All Progressives Congress’ (APC) prospects in northern Nigeria ahead of the next presidential election.

According to Governor Sani, assessments that the North would reject Tinubu in 2027 were unfounded and ignored the administration’s record of infrastructure development and economic interventions.

“President Bola Tinubu today has done more than any leader for northern Nigeria. I can tell you categorically, no president has done for the North, in terms of development, what President Bola Tinubu has done in the last three years,” he said.

He insisted his position was based on “data and statistics” rather than political sentiment.

The governor dismissed suggestions that Tinubu faced an uphill battle in the North, saying the President would outperform his 2023 electoral showing.

“A lot of people have come here and told you the North will not vote for Asiwaju. That is a figment of their imagination. I can tell you categorically, as the governor of Kaduna State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu will get more votes in 2027 than what he got in 2023,” Sani stated.

Highlighting projects undertaken by the Federal Government, Sani cited the long-delayed Abuja-Kaduna highway, which he said had been neglected by successive administrations for decades.

He revealed that over ₦600 billion had already been paid to contractors handling the road project, adding that the project was expected to be completed and commissioned by November.

“I am following the project personally, and I can tell you the contractors have already received over ₦600 billion out of about ₦750 billion for the project. By God’s grace, it will be commissioned in November,” he said.

The governor also pointed to the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari Road project, saying the Tinubu administration had released part of the ₦178 billion earmarked for its reconstruction after the project had remained abandoned for more than 25 years.

Beyond road infrastructure, Sani said Kaduna State had benefited significantly from the Federal Government’s support for agriculture, particularly through the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) programme and fertiliser interventions for smallholder farmers.

He further listed the establishment of a Federal University of Science and Technology in Southern Kaduna, the upgrade of one of the state’s hospitals to a Federal Medical Centre, and the Federal Executive Council’s approval of a ₦1 trillion light rail project for Kaduna.

According to him, feasibility studies for the rail project have been completed and funds have begun to be released.

Governor Sani argued that these projects have directly improved livelihoods and demonstrated the Tinubu administration’s commitment to the development of northern Nigeria.

He maintained that the scale of federal investments under the current administration would translate into stronger electoral support for President Tinubu when Nigerians return to the polls in 2027 election cycle.
