President Bola Tinubu has mourned the passing of the traditional ruler of Ndufu Alike Autonomous Community in Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, His Royal Highness, Eze Francis Eze Igwe, Agom Ugabala II.
The President described the monarch’s death as a loss not only to his immediate family but also to the Ndufu Alike community, the people of Ikwo and the entire Ebonyi State.
Tinubu, in a condolence statement issued on Sunday, said the death of the traditional ruler, politician, educationist and administrator represented the loss of a custodian of culture, a repository of wisdom and a symbol of unity.
He noted that the late monarch had occupied a position of honour and responsibility in his community, representing the values of traditional institutions in preserving cultural heritage, promoting communal harmony and fostering peace.
The President extended his condolences to the monarch’s son, former Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State, Dr Eric Kelechi Igwe, his immediate and extended family, associates and the State Traditional Council.
“The loss of a father is deeply personal, and no words can fully ease the pain of such a departure,” Tinubu said, praying that the family would find comfort in the memories of their patriarch, the values he imparted and the legacy he left behind.
He urged the traditional institution and the people of Ndufu Alike Autonomous Community to honour the late monarch’s memory by upholding the virtues of unity, peace, mutual respect and communal development.
According to the President, the passing of the traditional ruler also serves as a reminder that while life is transient, a legacy built on service, family and community endures.
Tinubu, on behalf of the Federal Government and the Nigerian people, extended his condolences to the Igwe family, the traditional institution and the entire Ndufu Alike community.
He prayed for the peaceful repose of the monarch’s soul and for God to grant his family and all those mourning him the strength to bear the loss.
