President Bola Tinubu has directed security chiefs to relocate to Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, following bomb attacks in three locations across the city.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Tinubu mourned those who lost their lives, sympathised with the injured, and expressed solidarity with residents.

“I want to make it categorically clear that these acts of terror are the final desperate and frantic attempts by criminals and terrorist elements trying to instil and spread fear, as they are under constant pressure from our brave armed forces and security agencies operating in various theatres,” the statement read.

He added that the government would intensify efforts against criminal elements nationwide.

According to the police, 23 persons were confirmed dead, while 108 others sustained injuries in the blasts. Earlier, the army had warned that more suicide attacks could be imminent in Maiduguri.

The president reiterated that Nigeria would not succumb to fear, commending the military for repelling coordinated attacks on security positions in the state.

“The Monday attacks were desperate acts of evil-minded terrorist groups. Our gallant military and civilian task forces will curtail and put them down,” Tinubu said.

He disclosed that additional equipment and operational support had been approved to strengthen security operations, adding that emergency agencies had been directed to provide adequate care for the injured.

“There is no place in Nigeria where terrorists will find safety. We will locate them, confront them, and completely defeat them,” he said.
