The spokesman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Hon. Chibike Ikenga, has expressed the belief that President Bola Tinubu’s administration will perform better than it has in the next two years.

Ikenga, who disclosed this in a chat with LEADERSHIP in Port Harcourt, said Tinubu ended  the subsidy regime to enable the government to survive.

He stated that based on the programmes and policies of the APC-led government, state governments, local governments, ministries, and departments no longer complain about funding.

Ikenga said, “The president has tried even beyond expectations because the level of rot was unprecedented. You know that the president took the bull by the horns.

The very day he took over the mantle of leadership in Nigeria, he announced the removal of the dreaded fuel subsidy. He killed the subsidy regime to enable the government to survive. That helped tremendously.

“You know today that state governments, local governments, ministries , departments no longer complain about funding. That was the first step. You know the unification of the exchange rate regime is also a major plus.

You also know about the institution of students’ loan as it is done in the Western world is also a major boost.

“You also know, we want to say that in very terms, the elevation of the Federal Capital Territory from a slum to a great capital city, comparable to anywhere in the world  , by President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike, to construct the place.

“You are also aware that President Tinubu raised the minimum to almost 100 per cent. So, these are some of the things we believe he has done excellently. Tinubu has performed tremendously well and we believe in the next two years, things will get better.”
