The Managing Director and CEO of the National Agricultural Insurance Corporation (NAIC), Hon. Yazid Shehu Danfulani, has pledged full support for the Federal Government’s efforts to revitalise the livestock sector under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Danfulani made the commitment following a strategic meeting with the Minister of Livestock Development, Dr. Idi Mukhtar Maiha, held in Abuja,on Thursday.
The high-level talks focused on aligning NAIC’s insurance services with national goals for food security, agricultural sustainability, and rural economic empowerment.
“The livestock sector is vital to our economy and livelihoods,” Danfulani said. “NAIC is ready to deploy innovative insurance solutions to protect farmers and support their productivity.”
NAIC, as the country’s leading agricultural risk management institution, reaffirmed its dedication to reducing the vulnerabilities of farmers to climate change, market instability, and other unforeseen risks.
During the meeting, both parties identified areas for collaboration, including livestock-specific insurance products, training for farmers, and the use of digital tools to enhance service delivery.
Dr. Maiha, in turn, welcomed the partnership, stating that the Ministry is open to working closely with stakeholders to achieve transformative results in the livestock value chain.
The initiative is seen as a key part of President Tinubu’s wider agricultural reform plan, which seeks to stimulate growth in rural communities and guarantee national food security.
Danfulani assured the Minister that NAIC would continue to play a proactive role in safeguarding investments in agriculture and supporting the sector’s long-term stability.
“This partnership is a significant step towards building a stronger, more resilient agricultural future for Nigeria,” he added.
