The Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil who revealed this in a statement on Tuesday, explained that one Dr. Auwal Abdullahi from Gombe State, filed a complaint against the arrested suspect.

Abdullahi said the Command’s prompt response and technology-driven investigative techniques played crucial roles in arresting the suspect.

Wakil narrated that the victim reported that he parked his Peugeot 307 vehicle with registration number ABJ-982 NC, at Al-Umma Village Lodge, on July 20, 2025, where he subsequently booked a room to pass the night.

He explained that he discovered that the vehicle’s windows had been forcibly broken and several possessions had been stolen when he got to the car the following morning.

Abdullahi listed items stolen from his car to include N5million cash, one touchscreen laptop; and one Tecno Smart 17 model phone.

“Upon receipt of the report, the Bauchi State Police Command launched an immediate investigation, prompting the suspect’s apprehension.

“During the course of interrogation, the suspect admitted to the allegations and provided comprehensive details regarding his criminal activities, which included vandalisation of armoured cables in various locations such as Alkaleri, Ningi, Darazo (Kari and Lanzai), and Bauchi metropolis,” PPRO said.

According to the police, the suspect (Kabiru) said he sold the stolen armoured cables according to their weight at N10,000 per kilogram.

“The most recent transaction involved six kilograms, yielding Sixty Thousand Naira to a buyer,” the PPRO said.
