President Bola Tinubu’s Protocol Liaison Officer (PLO), Amb Yakubu Musa has disbursed scholarship funds in varying amounts to 513 indigenous students who are doing well at various tertiary institutions in Nasarawa State.

He extended the gesture during a brief ceremony at the State University Keffi (NSUK) in the Keffi Local Government Area of the State.

Of the 513 student beneficiaries, seven whose CGPA placed them in the first class rank received N150,000 each, while others below that rank received N100,000 each.

Speaking at the event, Musa said the scholarship is his own contribution to the state’s educational development.

He noted that his plan is for the scholarship to run until every performing student benefits.

Shedding light on the disbursement, Chairman of the Organising Committee of the PLO’s Scholarship Scheme, Associate Prof. Shuaibu Abdul, explained that students with a minimum CGPA of 3.0 were selected for the scholarship.

He said beneficiaries must be indigenes of Nasarawa State and should have a 3.0 CGPA, adding that each local government was allocated 20 slots.

“But if you are an indigene of Toto local government area of the state where the sponsor comes from, then everyone who meets the requirements automatically qualifies,” he said.

In a remark, Prof. Sa’adatu Liman, Vice Chancellor, NSUK, who was represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics), Prof. Maikano Ari, commended the PLO for the scholarship and urged other highly-placed individuals from the state to emulate the gesture.

She also appreciated the organising Committee set up by the PLO for screening and selecting eligible beneficiaries, for doing a thorough job of selecting 513 students with 3.0 CGPA and above across the state for scholarship support.

She assured him that the university would continue to work closely with him to achieve more goals.
