First lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has urged Nigerians to become ambassadors of environmental conservation and advocates for the preservation of earth’s rich biodiversity by planting and nurturing flowers.

The first lady who spoke at the second edition of the Abuja Garden Show, said that gardens are reminder of the profound connection between humanity and the natural world that tell stories of growth, resilience and the delicate of life.

The show which was organised by the wife of the former head of state, Mrs Ajoke Murtala Mohammed, owner of Sarius Palmetum and Botanic Gardens, Abuja, is to promote environmental awareness and the joy of gardening.

Senator Tinubu who was represented by the director-general, National Centre for Women Development (NCWD), Hajia Asabe Bashir, stressed that gardening remains a powerful tool for positive change that foster community unity, encourager of sustainable practices, and promotion of well-being.

She said the act of cultivating a garden is a declaration of hope and a commitment to a greener and healthier future.

“This event serves as a testament to the importance of environmental stewardship, and as we witness the vibrant array of flora surrounding us, let us be reminded of the responsibility we bear to protect and nurture our environment, and by extension, mother earth. Each plant, each flower contributes to the delicate balance of our ecosystem, and it is our duty to ensure their continued existence for generations to come.
