Nigerian media personality Toke Makinwa has shared relationship advice with women, encouraging them to prioritise emotional maturity and healthy communication when choosing a life partner.

In a post shared on her Instagram page, Makinwa stressed that unresolved conflicts and prolonged silence can damage relationships, urging women to pay attention to how a man responds after disagreements.

According to her, empathy, understanding and the willingness to communicate are far more valuable than pride or ego in a lasting relationship.

“Marry the man who calls you after an argument just to make sure you’re okay. Not the one who leaves you alone with your tears. Choose the man who stays when things get hard and wants to understand you, not defeat you. A man who can pause, hold you, and say ‘I’m sorry’ because your relationship matters more to him than his ego,” she wrote.
