Topaz House has emerged victorious in the Lagooz Schools Sports Festival 2026, securing a remarkable total of 43 medals.

The festival, held at Agege Stadium in Lagos, showcased athletic talent from various Lagooz School houses through track and field events and team games, all cheered on by classmates, parents, and local dignitaries. Topaz House finished first overall, winning 18 gold, 13 silver, and 12 bronze medals. Beryl House claimed second place with 40 medals, including 14 gold, 9 silver, and 17 bronze. Pearl House took third with 36 medals, comprising 10 gold, 13 silver, and 13 bronze, while Onyx House rounded out the top four with 31 medals, made up of 8 gold, 15 silver, and 8 bronze.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chief Yomi Otubela, proprietor of Lagooz Schools, emphasised that the festival was more than a mere competition. “The Lagooz Sports Festival transcends athletic rivalry,” he stated. “It is a celebration of strength, unity, discipline, and the enduring spirit of excellence that defines our school. Sports remain one of the most effective platforms for building character, nurturing teamwork, and instilling resilience in our young people.”

He further explained that education at Lagooz extends beyond the classroom: “We are committed to raising well-rounded individuals. We believe that true education must shape the body, sharpen the mind, and build strong character. This festival is a clear expression of that commitment.”

Addressing parents, Chief Otubela expressed his gratitude for their support. “I wish to extend my heartfelt appreciation to our dear parents for your unwavering support, trust, and partnership. Your encouragement plays a vital role in inspiring our students to aim higher and achieve more.”
