The paramount ruler of the Tiv nation, Orcivirigh Prof James Ayatse has urged leaders across the country to focus more on uniting the people.
He decried the inability of critical stakeholders to build bridges that would integrate the people and share the benefits available to all Nigerians.
A statement by the special assistant to Tor Tiv on Media/ICT Freddie Adamgbe said the paramount ruler made this known in Enugu during the occasion of Handshake Across Nigeria, second edition organised by Nzuko Umunna.
The traditional ruler pointed out that the initiative of the organisation is worthy of emulation by other nationalities in promoting the mutual coexistence of not just Ndigbo but all citizens of Nigeria.
The monarch who is also the national president and chairman Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Association of Christian Traditional Rulers of Nigeria called on all Nigerians to prioritize efforts towards building bridges for a sustainable mutual coexistence of the nation’s diverse cultural affiliations.
The chairman Benue State Council of Traditional Rulers, who was also the chairman of the occasion pledged not to waver in his efforts to make Nigeria a united and indivisible country and appreciated the tireless contribution of Ndigbo to the economic development of Tiv land and Nigeria at large.
The Begha u Tiv further commended the Governor of Enugu State, Mr Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for ensuring a harmonious relationship devoid of border skirmishes between his kingdom and Enugu State, which earned him the highest honorific chieftaincy title in Tiv (the Temimongo u Tiv) and urged other neighbouring governors to emulate him.
