Tottenham are ready to move for Chelsea midfielder, Conor Gallagher, in the closing stages of the summer transfer window while also eyeing Brennan Johnson from Nottingham Forest.

Spurs are considering making a late bid for Gallagher after Chelsea agreed a £45million fee with Manchester City to sign England under-21 international, Cole Palmer.

Despite being happy at Stamford Bridge and determined to secure a spot in Mauricio Pochettino’s starting lineup, Gallagher’s future remains uncertain going into the final day of the transfer window.

The North-London club are eager to strengthen their squad before Friday’s deadline using the funds from Harry Kane’s big-money departure to Bayern Munich earlier this month. Chelsea midfielder Gallagher has caught their attention, according to reports via football.london.

In an interview with the Metro after he captained the Blues to a Carabao Cup success against AFC Wimbledon on Wednesday, Gallagher made it clear that he wants to fight for his place in Pochettino’s side. The 23-year-old said: “I don’t want to stop, I want to keep improving, keep helping the club.

“It was a great moment tonight [captaining the team] and hopefully many more. Everyone’s playing well, obviously a lot of top midfielders [have joined the club], but I’m just playing with quite a lot of confidence at the minute, I feel fit and strong.

“It’s great to have a great squad that we have for this season, it’s really important to help us win games. I’m happy with how it’s going so far for myself, I want to keep improving and keep helping the team get more wins.”

Tottenham are not the only Premier League club vying for Gallagher’s signature. Newcastle United and West Ham have also expressed an interest in the England midfielder.

Valued by Chelsea at around £50million, Gallagher has attracted attention from top clubs throughout the transfer window. Liverpool were initially among his suitors but moved on to other targets Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.
