The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State has said  the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal erred in its decision to sack Governor Abdullahi Sule who, it said, was duly elected by the people for second term.

The party in a press briefing yesterday in Lafia, the state capital  described as a monumental error the tribunal’s decision to declare the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, David Ombugadu as winner of the March 18 governorship election in the state.

Chairman of the party Malam Aliyu Bello said the verdict was a misnomer and cannot stand.

He said the party therefore reject the tribunal outcome as it did not reflect the will of the people.

“It is the candid and considered opinion of our great party, the APC that the election tribunal erred in arriving at its decision.

“Our great party therefore, unequivocally, and categorically reject the split judgment of the tribunal of two to one annulling the re-election of Governor Abdullahi Sule for a second term as the executive Governor of Nasarawa state.

“The APC believes that the tribunal also committed a monumental error in declaring the PDP candidate as winner of the Gubernatorial election in Nasarawa state.

“We identify ourselves with the dissenting judgment which is firmly rooted in Law, facts and logic. This further strengthened our resolve to pursue the appeal, the facts and arguments presented by our legal team and that of the INEC against the petition of the PDP and it’s candidate David Ombugadu overwhelming and incontrovertible, we are therefore in awe as to how the tribunal arrived at its puzzling decision,” he said.

He appealed to the people of Nasarawa State especially the party’s supporters to remain calm as the appellate will restore the mandate they freely gave Governor Sule for a second term.
