Troops Arrest 70 Terrorists, Rescue 21 Hostages

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) yesterday said troops on internal operations across the country killed several terrorists, arrested 70 suspected others and rescued 21 kidnap hostages between April 17 and 25 , 2025.

The director, defence media operations, Major General Markus Kangye, who revealed this in a statement, said troops also arrested 29 suspected oil thieves and recovered stolen products worth N94m.

He said troops within the period deactivated 35 illegal refining sites and 62 crude oil cooking ovens, 71 dugout pits, 18 boats, three speedboats, 36 storage tanks, 88 drums.

According to him, the troops also recovered 89,684 litres of stolen crude oil, 46,538 litres of illegally refined AGO and 1,650 litres of DPK.

Other items recovered include pumping machines, drilling machines, tricycles, motorcycles, mobile phones and four vehicles.

Relatedly, troops recovered huge quantities of assorted arms including machine guns, RPG tubes, automatic weapons as well as locally fabricated guns and Improvised Explosive Devices.

Furthermore, a huge cache of ammunition and live cartridges were also recovered.
