Troops Kill 2 Terrorists In Kaduna, Arrest Suspected Criminal In Plateau

Troops of the Nigerian Army deployed for counter terrorism operations in Kaduna State, on Wednesday, killed two suspected terrorists and recovered large cache of ammunitions.

A statement by the Nigerian Army on its social media handles, Wednesday night, said troops on 14 August, 2024 while acting on credible intelligence on terrorists’ activities, carried out an ambush along Kwana Uri village in Giwa local government area of Kaduna State.

The Army said two terrorists were neutralised during a fierce gun battle that followed while survivors from the encounter scampered into nearby bushes.

A search conducted in the area led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, 288 rounds of RG55 ammunition, 40 rounds of CJ 95 ammunition, six rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, a Baofeng communication radio and a motorcycle.

In another separate operation troops arrested a suspected criminal at Ganawuri Village of Riyom local government area of Plateau State.

The suspect, the statement noted, was found to illegitimately possess a fabricated automatic rifle.

The statement highlighted elimination of the two terrorists, the recovery of a significant cache of ammunition and the arrest of an armed criminal suspect during these operations as Nigerian Army’s relentless commitment to combating security challenges to restore peace in troubled parts of the country.
