Troops Kill 46, Arrest 89 Terrorists, Logistics Suppliers

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has confirmed the killing of 46 terrorists by troops deployed in internal security in the North East, North West, North Central and the South East.

The troops also arrested 89 terrorists, logistics suppliers and collaborators in two weeks.

These revelations came yesterday from the director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Musa Danmadami.

 He spoke at the biweekly update on the Armed Forces of Nigeria operations between May 4- May 18, 2023. He said 511 terrorists surrendered to troops at different locations while troops rescued 28 kidnapped civilians.

In a breakdown, he said troops of operation Hadin Kai within the period neutralised 26 Boko Haram terrorists/Islamic State of West Africa Province terrorists, arrested 25 terrorists’ logistics suppliers, one terrorists’ spy and one Boko Haram terrorist.

He said the troops also rescued one kidnapped Chibok school girl.

Meanwhile, 511 Boko Haram terrorists/Islamic State of West Africa Province and members of their families comprising of 99 adult male, 161 adult female and 251 children surrendered to troops at different locations within the theatre of operations.

In the North West, he said troops of operation Hadarin Daji neutralised 12 terrorists and arrested 26 suspected criminals as well as rescued 24 kidnapped civilians.

In the North Central, General Danmadami said troops of operation Safe Haven neutralised two terrorists and arrested 25 suspected criminals.

Troops also recovered three fabricated rifles, two fabricated pistols, two dane guns, six motorcycles, one vehicle and 31 rustled cattle.

Furthermore, in the South East he noted that troops of Operation Udo Ka neutralised two terrorists arrested seven suspected terrorists and rescued four kidnapped civilians. The troops recovered eight mobile phones, four motorcycles and one truck.

He said all recovered items, apprehended suspects and rescued civilians were handed over to the relevant authority for further action while the surrendered Boko Haram terrorists/Islamic State of West Africa Province family members were profile and equally handed over to the appropriate authority.
