According to Zagazola Makama, a Counter-Insurgency Expert and Security Analyst in the Lake Chad, the attack triggered a heavy gun battle with the troops which lasted for about one hour.

Makama added that the troops successfully repelled the attack with support from troops reinforcements from kukawa.

It could be recalled the troops of 3 Battalion Operation Hadin Kai, have repelled a similar attack by the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) attack on Gamborun Ngala, with the terrorists suffering heavy defeat.
