Nigerian Army has urged troops fighting Boko Haram insurgency under “Operation Hadin Kai ” in Borno State and some parts of the Northeast to embrace soft and hard approaches against the terrorists in its operations.
The theatre commander “Operation Hadin Kai ” Maj. Gen Gold Chibuisi said this yesterday during a lecture organised by the defence headquarters titled, ” Hard and Soft Approaches to Counter Terrorism and Counter-insurgency” for troops fighting terrorism in the North-East.
Chibuisi said the lecture could not have come at a more appropriate time than now considering the pace of the operations in the region which requires a kinetic and non-kinetic approach to win the war.
The Theatre Commander recalled that in recent times, the soft and hard approach had seen a good number of the terrorists and families’ members surrendering to troops in different areas of the operations.
Represented by the deputy theatre commander, Maj. Gen Olatokunbo Bello, the Theatre Commander explained that the terrorists are beginning to see the reason to come out and be reintegrated into the society rather than prosecuting the senseless war.
The guest lecturer, Dr Adam Abdullahi in his lecture took the troops down memory lane of terrorism in the North and urged the troops to make use of what they have learnt to bring a lasting peace to the region.
The team lead of the delegation from the defence headquarters, Brig. Gen Mathias Erebulu thanked the Theatre Commander and the deputy Theatre Commander “Operation Hadin Kai ” for the warm reception and the success of the lecture.
He added that the team which is on a three-day tour of the Theatre would on Thursday (today) proceed to Magumeri and Gubio local government areas of the state to hand over educational materials to over 2000 students as part of civil/ military relations.
